A child’s first birthday … one of life’s first major milestones … it simply MUST be celebrated!  For this special birthday party, elegance and whimsy were the key – pink, aqua and yellow, lace and ribbons, feathers and jewels.  A Tea Party to rival that of Alice in Wonderland’s …

This whimsical, elegant tea party was truly amazing!  While we knew from the start that the theme was going to be incredibly fun, we didn’t know how truly fabulous this special birthday party was going to be until we had finished the set up and had the chance to step back and take it all in.  We knew each piece was perfect, as it was very carefully chosen to express a certain element of the overall theme, but together, they created a masterpiece.  We were thrilled with the outcome!

Every element of this little girl’s first birthday celebration was carefully chosen to reflect her and her family.  Handmade invitations, custom china and specially wrapped amenities were just some of the details that made this event truly shine.  The 4 “mini cakes” by the fabulous Robin Martin at Gateaux were to die for!  They reflected elements and patterns in the china, the linens or the invitations.  She always does an amazing job, and this was no exception.

The challenge, of course, was keeping children of this age occupied so the parents could enjoy themselves as well.  We created a “dress up” area, stocked with tutus and butterfly wings for the girls and fedoras and ties for the boys (these served as the kids’ amenities).  In addition, facepainters and caricature artists entertained guests, as did Alice herself, telling stories and serving tea.

Dinner was served family-style, at long tables, for a much more intimate feel.  And of course, Design Cuisine did not disappoint.  After dinner, the dessert/candy buffet, with items specifically chosen in the colors of the party, was open … and the older kids devoured it!  Adults received beautifully wrapped tins of dessert tea as amenities.  And, Liz Banfield and 7Rendered captured it all in photos and on video, so the clients can relive it, and share it with their daughter when she is older!

Happy Birthday! Wishing you much love,

Eve, Sarah and Steph
