This past Friday I had the pleasure of hosting an anniversary dinner for my Dad and his wife, who have been married for 7 years now.  Wow!  I cannot believe how fast time has flown by.  So much has changed in the last seven years, and I was very grateful to be able to share this special day with them, and to show them how much their love for one another has inspired me in my marriage and in my interpersonal relationships.

My Dad and Pamala live in San Francisco now, and seeing them, spending time with them and sharing special occasions with them is always a very special opportunity.  Pamala LOVES to celebrate and entertain in style – and she has very high standards!  Talk about pressure – even for an event planner!  What would normally be a very nice dinner party for family turns into an elegant affair at my household for every occasion – but this time, I wanted to make sure it was that much more special.  I broke out the never-used, extra special china and crystal (the ones I never use because I’m afraid one of my brothers will break it … which, of course, happened! But, then again, it’s not a party unless something breaks, right?!), my “best” silver and I even made menu cards … all for a party of 7.  The table was exquisite!  I hired my favorite caterers – Design Cuisine – and Marie didn’t disappoint.  It was the most fantastic dinner she’s produced to date. And Cocoa and Fig designed an adorable 2-tier cake paying tribute to Dad and Pamala’s hometown of San Francisco.

The evening was a fabulous success – everyone enjoyed being with one another, and it was a wonderful tribute to Dad and Pamala’s love for one another and for family.  A better evening couldn’t have been had in another venue or restaurant.  These are the parties I love most … whether they are for my own family or for a client.  The intimacy and special memories created just can’t be beat!

Happy Anniversary, Dad and Pamala!  May your love for one another last for many, many years to come!

Whatever you do, make it exceptional!

Anyone who knows me knows that Monique Lhuillier has been a huge inspiration in my life.  She designed my wedding dress, my bridesmaids’ dresses, and practically all of my occasion dresses.  If there is an important moment in my life, it has been marked in some way by Monique.  I am fortunate to work in a world where I am able to introduce Monique Lhuillier to the lives of others – to show them how her love of romance and fine fabrics and accessories transpires many aspects of life.  Monique Lhuillier believes that brides should feel like princesses on their wedding days; that a bride should feel her best on one of her most special, memorable days.  Monique has designed some of the most beautiful wedding dresses, inspiring trends throughout the industry, with her use of beautiful laces, appliqués and silhouettes.  She has added similar touches to her ready-to-wear collections with peacock feathers, pearls and crystals.  And her accessories are to die for – her clutches are fabulous, using the finest leathers and adornments.

Monique Lhuillier has expanded her brand into other lifestyle elements, inspired by her dresses, that transition from fashion to home.  She has recently added a line of invitations which incorporate elements of the details of her dresses – the lace patterns, the sashes, and colors.  Brides can now use aspects of their dress as their “theme” for the wedding – from invitation to ceremony to reception to wedding cake to amenity packaging.  It is a subtle but elegant way of incorporating something so special and unique into such a special day.

Monique has also developed a line of fine dinnerware, stemware and accessories that also reflect elements of her dresses or of her personal interests.  Her Pointe D’Esprit china is based upon sheer, light-as-air tulle, and is lavishly embellished with embossed bows and dots.  She has a fabulous new black and white pattern – Couturier – coming out in early January.  EVE Events is an exclusive rental agent for two of these exquisite patterns – the Etoile Platinum, with both the blue and the tan chargers and accent plates, and the new Couturier black and white china.

Let EVE Events show you how to incorporate one of the top wedding designers into your wedding day.  We can assist you with invitations, rentals and appointments and fittings for your wedding gown and bridesmaids’ dresses.  We have an exceptional relationship with the Monique Lhuillier flagship salon in Edina – let us make your wedding gown shopping experience an amazing one.

It may only be October, but the snow makes me think of the holidays already.  And, while I’m not personally ready for the holidays (yes, as an event designer, my home does suffer from the décor blahs at the holidays), I can’t help but get excited for one of my favorite times of the year.

As part of the holiday season, EVE Events has been asked to take part in one of the premier entertainment events for the holidays – The Expo at the Affair, taking place at the Minneapolis Convention Center, November 7th and 8th.  As a member of the ISES Minneapolis-St Paul Chapter, we have been asked to create a unique, creative, elegant “Holiday-inspired” table top display.  This opportunity allows us to have some fun, and really illustrate our creativity.  For our table, we decided to do a play on the “partridge in a pear tree” theme.  We thought it would be fun to “deconstruct” it – taking the elements apart and use them in a new and different way, yet still remaining true to the components.  Our inspiration for this was a Hable Christmas stocking, found at Garnet Hill (  We look forward to sharing the photos of our table top display with you.

The Expo will showcase not only creative Holiday-inspired table top displays from ISES members, but will also provide entertainment that will evoke the senses for the holidays.  Fashion and accessories for yourself and your home; tips, tricks and recipes for holiday meals; wine tasting seminars and pastry competitions will take place at the Expo.  For more information on the Expo, or to purchase tickets, please visit the Affair’s website at

On Sunday, November 8th, the table top displays will be showcased at a luncheon and runway fashion show.  You will be entertained and treated to some of the latest trends in fashion for yourself and your home as you dine at some of the most creative, elegant and professionally designed “Holiday-inspired” tables.  You will have the opportunity to vote on your favorite Holiday-inspired table top design, and the People’s Choice Award winner will be announced at 3:30 on the main stage.  Visit to order your tickets to the luncheon and fashion show now.

It’s going to be an exciting event for everyone involved – vendors, planners and attendees.  We look forward to seeing you and to sharing our table top design with you!  Hope to see you there!
